Today was 90 degrees and sunny in LA, felt just like Uganda!! Everyone enjoyed an easy day, Robert caught up on some work, Phiona sat on the balcony in the sun, watched some TV and rested. Later in the evening John Carls and his family hosted everyone for dinner along with the writer and a fellow producer for the movie. It was great to catch up with friends and share what is going on in everyone’s lives. Everyone was making their trip plans for who will go East or West next! Today was a perfect day to prepare for a very busy upcoming two weeks.
Tomorrow we will leave the hotel at 5am to fly out of LAX and move on to the next destination, NYC where there will be school visits, tournaments, grand masters and lots of new friends. Check out our itinerary for more information on where we will be!
One extra bit of amazing news, the chess team from St. Mbuga school in Kampala, all members from the SOI Chess club, won the National High School Chess Tournament for the 6th year in a row today! Second place was then taken by the Koro Academics team which is from our Gulu Chess Program!! Needless to say, we have a very proud Coach and teammate here in the US!! Pictures to come soon!
